Rays Complete Sweep of Twins

The Tampa Bay Rays (46-19) defeated the Minnesota Twins (31-32) 4-2 on Thursday afternoon at Tropicana Field. The win gives the Rays a sweep of the Twins, who entered the week as the leader in the AL Central Division.

Carlos Correa hit a solo homer in the top of the fourth to give Minnesota a lead, but the Rays answered in a big way in the bottom of the frame. Luke Raley hit an RBI triple to tie the game 1-1, before Harold Ramirez hit a two-run blast to give the Rays a 3-1 lead. The Rays added their fourth run in the sixth when Wander Franco stole third base then advanced to home on a throwing error by Twins pitcher Griffin Jax.

Yonny Chirinos (3-1, 2.60) was very good for the Rays, allowing just one earned run on five hits in five and two-thirds innings of work while striking out four and walking none. Jason Adam earned his tenth save of the season working a perfect 1-2-3 ninth inning.

The Rays now prepare to host the Texas Rangers for a three-game weekend series at Tropicana Field. The AL West leading Rangers come into the weekend with the second best record in baseball, behind only the Rays. Tyler Glasnow is scheduled to start the series for the Rays on Friday night - first pitch is scheduled for 6:40 PM on Friday night. Ronnie & T-Kras begin pregame coverage with the Inside Pitch at 5:30 PM on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620, your Home of Rays Baseball.
