Cough syrup containing codeine was at the center of a murder over two years ago and a suspect has just been arrested.
West Palm Beach Police say 26-year old Jeremy Johnson of Altamonte Springs had met the victim in a parking lot in April of 2022 with the intention of purchasing the syrup.
A witness who was a friend of the victim says Johnson and another person walked to the driver's side of the unnamed 27-year old's car and pulled out a gun. The witness says that's when he ran off and heard gunshots and Johnson's vehicle drive off. He returned to the scene to find his friend dead.
Johnson is charged with first-degree murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
