Sammy Hagar might be ready to retire from touring. The Red Rocker revealed the news during a recent interview with the Miami Herald ahead of his "Best Of All Worlds" Las Vegas residency.
āI donāt think I want to go on tour anymore,ā Hagar musician confessed. āI hate to say that, because I donāt want to piss my fans off. Iāll go out and do a one-off show and do things like that, but the residency is going to give me a good extension of my career. Thatās what Iām hoping for.ā
āI keep telling my manager, āDonāt take any tours, let me do this residency.ā If I like it enough, Iāll do another one," he added. "And if thatās successful Iāll do another one, and I can squeeze a few more years out of my career.ā
At 77 years old, traveling has been taking its toll. āWith [the residency], I donāt have to travel, I donāt have to unpack and pack and get on an airplane every day,ā Hagar explained. āYou know, at my age, it hurts my shoulders to do all this. And I have to perform. Iām a performer, at the end of the day.ā
If Hagar really decides to pull the plug on touring, last year's "Best Of All Worlds" outing will mark his last. He'll be taking up residency at Dolby Live at MGM Park April 30th, as well as May 2nd, 3rd, 7th, 9th, 10th, 14th, 16th, and 17th.
