A new parking garage will be built in Lake Worth Beach and downtown merchants can't wait.
The City Commission has approved a proposal to build a parking garage along K Street in Lake Worth Beach.
It will cost an estimated $8.5 million, with the project being funded through a public-private partnership.
Business owners hope it will make things easier for customers to get to their stores, bars and restaurants in the downtown area.
City Commissioners voted 3 to 2 in favor of the plan not only to improve parking but to generate revenue for the city. The garage is now in the design and development stage with construction slated to be finished next year.
