Pearl Jam Send Cease & Desist Letter To Cover Band

Pearl Jam isn’t happy with a cover band, but it has nothing to do with the group singing their songs.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Famers have sent a cease and desist letter to the UK cover band Pearl Jamm, insisting they are “damaging the Pearl Jam brand and causing confusion.”

The Seattle rockers are demanding the group stop using the name, destroy merchandise, and hand over any email addresses and web domains associated with the band. But the UK group doesn’t understand why Pearl Jam is taking such a step, telling the BBC, “No one’s ever come to a show, got to the end of the show, came to us and demanded money back because they were expecting to see Pearl Jam play The Garage in Highbury.”

Following the report the cover band issued a letter to the real Pearl Jam, wondering why, even though they’ve known about them for years, decided to “wait until a global pandemic to have threatening legal letters sent,” noting, “This isn’t the Pearl Jam we know and love, the Pearl Jam that stands up for social issues and against corporate giants.”

Finally, they write, “Your actions are out of character and unreasonable yet our love for the music endures,” adding, “We sincerely hope that, despite confirmation to the contrary, you are blissfully unaware of actions being taken in your name.”
