A Gainesville woman had to be taken to the hospital after her boyfriend beat her on Super Bowl Sunday.
According to deputies, the argument began after the female victim changed the television channel from Super Bowl LV between the Kansas City Chiefs and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
55-year-old Thomas White gave the woman several injuries, including cuts on her face and chin, a bloody nose, and a swollen wrist and hand, according to the report. There was also blood droplets found on the ground and on the wall, said the deputies.
White said he punched the woman in self-defense and could not recall how many times he hit her, according to the report.
White was arrested and charged with felony battery. He remains at the Alachua County Jail with a bond set at $15,000.
