Huge 'Potentially Hazardous' Asteroid Will Hurtle Past Earth In March

An asteroid that’s supposedly the size of the Golden Gate Bridge will hurtle past Earth around March 21.

This will be the biggest and speediest asteroid to fly by our planet in 2021. It’s somewhere between half-a-mile and a full mile in diameter and it’s traveling at a speed of 21 miles per second.

The space rock, officially called 231937 (2001 FO32), is big enough and will be close enough for NASA to classify it as “potentially hazardous.”

According to scientists, we shouldn't panic because it will be 1.25 million miles away when it flies by.

The asteroid will be too faint to be seen with the naked eye. If you have a telescope with an aperture of at least 8 inches, you might be able to spot the fast-moving space rock.
