A group of tourists was filming at South Africa's Kruger National Park when they witnessed firsthand that the circle of life can be brutal.
In the video (below), a crocodile can be seen leaping out of the water to grab a nearby impala. During the initial attack, the croc was only able to hold the ungulate by one of its legs.
Amazingly, after a long struggle, the young impala was able to wrestle itself free.
There's only one problem though... a leopard noticed the struggle and was waiting in the wings for the opportunity to pounce. Once the impala got free of the water, the leopard started to chase.
Most likely exhausted from the battle with the crocodile just moments ago, the impala didn't get far before the leopard was able to catch it.
The video might be hard to watch but this is the way nature works. Its survival of the fittest and nothing about these animals' existence is ever fair.
