Brown pelicans in one Florida community may be under attack.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is investigating reports of people intentionally injuring brown pelicans on the Skyway Fishing Pier in Manatee County.
Along with birds being injured by fishing lines and hooks, there have been more than a dozen disturbing reports of pelicans that appear to have been scalped with a knife or other sharp object.
The FWC says officers are patrolling the area to investigate.
Anyone found intentionally injuring pelicans will face criminal charges.
