An angler got the scare of his life when a young mountain lion swam up to him while he was fishing.
In the video, posted by Jose A Flores-Zaher, the cougar can be seen swimming off in the distance before approaching the boat. The person in the canoe decided to take a preemptive strike with his kayak paddle in an attempt to deter the big cat.
The mountain lion had either decided to cross the lake or had possibly chased prey into the water that got away. Though it's unlikely the mountain lion was trying to attack the fisherman, having such a close encounter with a large predatory cat in the great outdoors can be a little unsettling.
The kayak paddle was successful in scaring off the mountain lion and it swam safely to shore.
This is certainly not your typical house cat video!
