Scientists are collecting reproductive cells from 6.7 million species with plans of storing them underneath the surface of the moon.
The idea is to have a back-up system in place in the off chance our planet gets wiped out by natural disaster or by an asteroid.
If we get wiped out, we can get to the moon bank and kickstart the re-population with the various specimens.
According to reports, they are calling it a “modern global insurance policy.”
It's nice to know someone's thinking ahead!
