A family's dog is safe thanks to the heroics of a sheriff's deputy in northeast Florida.
A deputy with the Flagler County Sheriff's Office rescued the small dog from a burning house in Palm Coast.
Fire trucks were arriving on the scene when the deputy heard scratching from inside the burning home.
"There's a dog right here," the deputy said. "Can I open that door?"
Once the fire department gave the green light, the deputy smashed the front door window which allowed the dog to escape.
The family wasn't home at the time of the fire but were thankful their beloved pet was rescued.
