Asteroid Apophis Won't Crash Into Earth For At Least 100 Years, NASA Says

According to NASA scientists, an asteroid a bit longer than a football field named 9942 Apophis is going to pass pretty close to Earth.

On April 13, 2029, the massive space rock will cruise overhead, just under 20,000 miles above the surface. That might seem pretty far away, however, we'll be able to see it without binoculars or telescopes.

When it passes, it will be the closest thing that could crush us for the next 100 years, according to scientists.

If the NASA scientists are right and everything goes according to plan, we're all good.

However, we might want to start looking at the stars in April of 2029 to make sure they didn’t make any mistakes.
