An experienced diving instructor got up close and personal with a great white shark after the massive fish was able to breach the cage.
In the video, the shark can be seen swimming towards a large chunk of tuna tied to a rope. As the shark is thrashing around, it broke the metal rail of the cage with the diver inside.
According to experts, when a shark bites something, it is temporarily blinded. It is believed the shark lunged at the bait, accidentally hit the side of the cage, wasn't able to swim backwards, and thrusted forward ultimately breaking the cage.
Luckily, the diver was able to stay calm and swim out the bottom of the cage. He waited until the shark was able to free itself, swam back up, and climbed out completely uninjured.
This close call was a little too close for comfort!
