Never cross an angry mother bear! They will go to extreme lengths to protect their cubs in almost any situation.
In a video posted to the Nat Geo WILD YouTube page, a sloth bear battles a larger tiger in order to keep her offspring safe.
According to the video, the fight began when the sloth bear approached a waterhole where the tiger was drinking. The tiger immediately charged at the bear when it reached the water.
India's Tadoba National Park reaches very hot temperatures during the summer months which leads to a lack of water sources. These vicious encounters are common when different animals share the same waterhole.
The fight lasted about 15 minutes but the sloth bear was able to protect its cub. It's likely both animals sustained notable injuries.
