A taxi driver is being hailed a hero after he reportedly locked a suspicious passenger in his cab before the vehicle blew up outside a hospital in Liverpool.

According to reports, the passenger asked to be taken to the Service of Remembrance at Liverpool's Anglican Cathedral, about a mile away. After realizing they couldn't get to the event because streets were blocked off, the passenger requested the driver, David Perry, pull over outside the Liverpool Women's Hospital.

Perry noticed the man was wearing some kind of light attached to his clothing and was messing around with it.

A CCTV security camera captured the moment Perry's vehicle exploded and quickly became a fireball.

Luckily, the father-of-two only suffered minor injuries, including cuts, bruises, and damage to his eardrum. He has already been released from the hospital.

Three other men have since been arrested in connection with the incident. The investigation is ongoing.
