A shocking video captured by a scientist shows a shark hunting for prey despite missing a significant chunk of its body.
According to the scientist, the missing hunk was eaten in an act of shark-on-shark cannibalism.
“Sharks eat sharks, that is well known, but it is super difficult to film and document,” said Dr. Mario Lebrato.
Lebrato and his team were off the coast of Spain to release an oceanic blacktip shark back into the sea when the incident occurred. Shortly after freeing the shark, a group of other sharks, including bull sharks, approached and started attacking.
The blacktip was brutally attacked, having a massive chunk of its side ripped away. However, despite missing a significant portion of its body, the shark continued swimming for about 20 minutes before succumbing to its injuries.
