According to a Michigan doctor, it is possible to go blind from farting if your wind is “pungent” enough.
Dr. Anthony Youn, a holistic plastic surgeon, posted a video on Instagram notifying his followers that passing wind can cause vision loss.
In the video, Dr. Youn responds to a follower's comment that claims they went blind for 3 minutes after farting.
"If the gas you pass is extremely pungent, it could contain large amounts of hydrogen sulfide," Dr. Youn says as he explains the science behind the phenomenon.
“Although this is very unlikely, if the gas you pass is extremely pungent, it could contain large amounts of hydrogen sulfide."
“Studies show that hydrogen sulfide is very effective at reducing blood pressure. And if it reduces blood pressure to the central retinal artery, your silent but deadly toot could theoretically make you go blind."
The clip has gone viral, leaving many viewers stunned.
