A home surveillance camera captured the moment a man fought off a black bear on his front porch in Daytona Beach, Florida.
In the video, Walter Hickox and his three dachshunds are on the front porch when a bear pounces through the doorway towards one of the dogs.
Hickox quickly jumped into action, wrestling the bear, getting scratched and bitten in the process. Finally, he pushes the bear back through the door with his bare hands and quickly moves a nearby wooden bench to block the doorway.
Hickox can be heard in the video shouting, "oh my god, I was attacked by a bear!"
According to reports, Hickox was only thinking about protecting his family and pets.
"Not a lot went through my head at the moment, other than what's going to happen if he gets past me and into the house where the rest of my dogs and my wife was at," Hickox said.
Luckily, the dogs weren't injured, and Hickox plans to install a door to close off the porch. He also plans on keeping bear spray nearby.
