A Florida man says he jumped from a stolen vehicle seconds before it was hit by a train and sent flying into a nearby home.
According to police, the 38-year-old man was leaving a bar in Martin County and couldn't locate his vehicle, so he stole a car to find it.
Unfortunately, he got stuck on the railroad tracks just as a train was barreling toward him.
Luckily, he escaped seconds before the train slammed into the car and sent it flying into a nearby home. The homeowners were sleeping at the time and were uninjured.
After the crash, the man stole a forklift from a nearby fruit stand, which he also vandalized, according to the Martin County Sheriff’s Office.
Eventually, he was arrested after flagging down responding deputies “to let them know he was still looking for his car.”
The man faces grand theft and criminal mischief charges, and additional charges are expected.
