A Florida man was exiting a convenience store on Tuesday evening when an SUV struck him.

According to the Martin County Sheriff's Office, the SUV driver, a 21-year-old woman, meant to hit the brake but accidentally pressed the accelerator, sending the vehicle crashing into the Plantation Pantry on Hutchinson Island.

While attempting to leave, the man was struck by the vehicle around his waistline, and he was thrown back into the store. He was transported to a nearby hospital with injuries to his face from the broken glass. He is expected to recover.

In a Facebook post, the sheriff's office said the victim was "talking and remained in unusually good spirits, asking deputies if his beer he just purchased was ok."

According to deputies, the driver is likely to face careless driving charges.
