Ozzy Osbourne On His Rock Hall Induction: ‘I’m More Than Honored’

became his second induction, now as a solo artist. In the rest of his message, he said it felt different than first induction and explained why:

“Because my solo career, it’s been a much larger part of my overall music career as a whole.”

Osbourne came in fourth in the fan vote, with over 480,000 votes. He talked about it:

“[It] feels more special, and I’m sure I’m not the only one that feels that way.”

Last year, Ozzy’s wife, Sharon Osbourne, said the Rock Hall should induct Ozzy as a solo artist appearance on The Adam Carolla Show because the singer has been eligible since 2006. Sharon noted:

“They know that Ozzy deserves to be there. They know he’s been a solo artist. You’ve gotta be doing it for 24 years. He’s been 43 years as a solo artist. He sold nearly a hundred million albums as a solo artist. So where is he? Induct him!”

Osbourne shared the following message on X after he learned that he was among the nominees for the class of 2024:

“I’m deeply honored to receive this news from the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame. To be one of the few musicians who’s being considered for a second entry, now as a solo artist, is something I could never have imagined. After 44 years as a solo artist, the fact that I can continue to record music and receive this recognition is something I am incredibly proud of.”

It is not clear if Ozzy will perform at the induction event on October 19 in Cleveland. He stopped touring due to health problems. He didn’t confirm a short set at the event but said he would wear black that night.

Cher, Mary J. Blige, A Tribe Called Quest, Dave Matthews Band, Foreigner, Peter Frampton, and Kool & the Gang are the other nominees for the 2024 Hall of Fame. Some names that didn’t get picked are Mariah Carey, Eric B. & Rakim, Sade, Jane’s Addiction, Lenny Kravitz, Oasis, and Sinéad O’Connor.
