Federal Reserve Holds Last Meeting Of Year

The Federal Reserve could lower interest rates for the third straight time during its last meeting of the year. Bankrate's Stephen Kates expects the Fed to cut interest rates by a quarter-percentage point, leaving rates hovering around three-point-five percent. He says the decision is coming without knowing the hiring data for November and the latest inflation numbers because of the shutdown. He says the economy is lukewarm heading into the New Year where a new Federal Reserve Chair is expected to be named.
