(Tallahassee, FL) - The Florida Supreme Court judicial nominating committee is now accepting applicants to replace Justice Charles Canady who made his last appearance on the bench Wednesday.
Canady is leaving the high court after 17 years to take a much better paying position at the University of Florida.
His pay will double as he will make a base salary of a half million dollars as UF leading its school for classical liberal arts education.
Justice Canady served on the Florida Supreme Court since 2008 and was chief justice three times.
He is stepping down to join the University of Florida’s Hamilton School for Classical and Civic Education in 2026.
