(Fort Lauderdale, FL) - The Broward Heart Project is back offering free heart scans to residents at Cleveland Clinic.
The most common cause of death in the US, heart disease. Broward Mayor Mark Bogen's mom died from a heart attack, so he started the free heart scan pilot program in 2023. It saved his life and the lives of 4 thousand residents.
Broward County is the first in the country to offer the cardiac CT scan with contrast to non-symptomatic adults over 45 for free.
Bogen says insurance only covers it for patients with symptoms.
"The Broward County Commission reminds residents it is important for everyone, especially adults ages 45 – 70, to take appropriate steps for preventive health care. Consult with your personal health care professional to determine whether and which preventive care is appropriate for you."
