#GoodNews: Off-Duty Officer Rescues Hiker Trapped In Whirlpool

An off-duty state patrol officer saved a drowning hiker in the foothills of California’s Sierra Nevada mountains.

Video postedby the Madera County Sheriff’s Office shows officer Brent Donley rescuing the man from swift-moving water in a whirlpool.

Donley has been trained in search and rescue techniques and happened to be nearby.
