Although a new coffee shop opened in Brooklyn over the weekend, there wasn’t a single employee in sight. At least no human employees, that is. That’s because Botbar Coffee, which is located in the borough’s Greenpoint section, is run by a robot. The mechanical barista, named Adam, seemed to handle customers’ orders flawlessly, repeating such requests as, “Refill hot coffee cup” in a lifeless voice. However, Adam ran into a snag several hours after opening when it ran out of cold brew and cortados. Nonetheless, manager Sunny Lam says opening weekend was a “success.”
