Attention all male peacocks living in Pinecrest, Florida: If you’ve ever considered moving to a different state, the time to get out is now – unless you have no plans of starting a family. Town officials are preparing to launch an operation that involves catching male peacocks, giving them vasectomies, and releasing them back into the wild, Pinecrest officials have announced. The goal is to curb Pinecrest’s population of peacocks, which has gotten out of control, town officials say. Peacocks in neighboring towns aren’t safe, either. Miami-Dade County Commissioner Raquel Regalado says if Pinecrest’s vasectomy plan is successful, Coral Cables and South Miami might follow its lead.

Can you think of a better way to curb a species’ population without killing any of them?
