Neal Casal, Guitarist From Chris Robinson Brotherhood, Dead at 50

Neal Casal, a singer-songwriter and prolific guitarist best know for his work with the Chris Robinson Brotherhood and Ryan Adams, has died at the age of 50.

An official statement on Casal’s Facebook page Tuesday night said, “It’s with great sadness that we tell you our brother Neal Casal has passed away. As so many of you know, Neal was a gentle, introspective, deeply soulful human being who lived his life through artistry and kindness. His family, friends and fans will always remember him for the light that he brought to the world. Rest easy Neal, we love you.”

Chris Robinson released a statement saying," All of us in this rock & roll life have had to say goodbye to too many people too soon. I can only wish that you’ve found your peace returning to the wisdom of the universe. I miss you so much already, Neal. I’ll see you again, someday past the sunset."

Bob Weir posted a photo on Twitter with this message, "My last memory of Neal will be the smile he left me with..."

In addition to his own Band, Circles Around The Sun who just played at Lockn' Festival this past weekend (video below), Casal also worked with Willie Nelson, Phil Lesh, and Shooter Jennings during his career.

According to Variety, the cause of death was suicide.
